The cruising ground

On the water and in the air

On the water and in the air

The UAE rewards an itinerary that mixes the two. Take full advantage of the water sports on board: go out on a jet ski, or swim with a SeaBob in tropical waters. Above the coast, a helicopter ride shows you all of the iconic landmarks, including the Burj Al Arab and the Atlantis resort, and skydivers simply choose the place they would like to hover over, the wild desert or Palm Island, Jumeirah Beach Residence and the prestigious Dubai Marina.

Desert, mosque and mountains

Desert, mosque and mountains

Away from the marinas the country changes character quickly. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is the largest temple in the UAE and the most richly decorated, and it attracts millions of people every year. The Rub al Khali desert begins about ninety minutes' drive from the bustling city, where Anantara's Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort sits like an oasis and you can ride a camel or drive a quad bike. Further along the coast, Oman and Musandam are all low mountains and hills, with clear sea, great views and a variety of tropical fish.

When to go?

The UAE is at its busiest from November to February, when the days sit around 24 degrees and the water stays flat. December is the month to commit early, because the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, National Day and New Year's Eve all land inside five weeks, Yas Marina race berths go a year ahead and New Year night is priced at two to three times a normal charter. Late January through mid March holds the same conditions with real choice at a few weeks' notice. From June to September the heat and humidity empty the water, and what still runs goes at sunrise or after sunset.
