FOR HOW LONG COULD I CHARTER A YACHT?
You can choose any charter duration - the period depends only on your request and the availability of the yacht herself. In the Emirates, day rentals are popular, and on the European coast, a yacht is often taken in charter for one or two weeks.
For a specific yacht, contact the charter broker.

HOW TO BOOK THE YACHT I LIKE?
All charters should be booked by contract. Once we have confirmed the availability of the yacht for the selected dates, you will receive a Charter Agreement and a request for a deposit to book the yacht for you.
The Charter Agreement sets out all the conditions, as well as the rights and obligations of each of the parties. The deposit is 50% of the total amount for the yacht rent. The remaining 50% of the rent, plus additional costs and VAT, shipping or return fees (if applicable), and any other fees will be charged one month before the journey.

CHARTER AGREEMENT
Once the availability of the yacht you choose has been confirmed for the desired dates, you will receive a standard charter agreement to sign.
If it is more convenient for you to start or end a charter at a point other than the yacht's home port, be ready for additional costs for the yacht's relocation. These additional expenses will be agreed with you in advance and put in the agreement, as well as possible additional taxes.

TERMS OF PAYMENT
A deposit equal to half of the charter amount is payable by bank transfer immediately when the Agreement is signed.
The remaining 50% of charter amount, as well as Advance Provisioning Allowance, taxes, yacht relocation fees (if required), and any other pre-agreed expenses, to be paid by a second bank transfer one month before the charter date.

CAN I CANCEL THE CHARTER AND MAKE A REFUND OF THE AMOUNT PAID?
If you decide to cancel the charter, the owner of the yacht can withhold the deposit or the full amount depending on the time frame in which you make the cancellation. If the charter is canceled after the deposit has been made, but the full amount has not yet been withheld, the owner is entitled to retain the amount of the deposit.
If the cancellation is made after you have paid the full cost of the charter, the owner of the yacht withholds the entire amount but refunds the cost of the additional costs to you. If you are forced to cancel your trip, consult a Smart Yachts expert in advance - this will minimize losses (for example, agree with the yacht owner about alternative charter dates). It is worth remembering that different contracts may contain different cancellation conditions.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE CHARTER RATE?
Charter rates include payment for yacht rental, crew services, and all necessary equipment, properly insured against maritime risks.
Rates do not include VAT, food, fuel, electronic communications, canal tolls, port dues, local taxes, and taxes levied by a specific port or harbor. For boarding and/or disembarking from a yacht at a port other than the home port, a yacht delivery/return fee will be charged.

OPERATION EXPENSES
APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is a mandatory payment for any charter. The amount is usually equivalent to 25% of the total charter price. In some cases, it can reach 30%.
Fuel, food, drinks, mooring, and any other unplanned expenses are covered by this deposit. The deposit is credited to the captain's account before the charter start. It will ensure that the yacht is refueled and provisions are onboard by the time you arrive. During your trip, you can ask the captain to report your current expenses at any time, but in any case, at the end of the cruise, you will be provided with a detailed report. If during the trip expenses exceed the amount of the deposit, you should be ready to immediately deposit the missing amount in cash or by transfer.
Of course, if the deposit has not been spent in full, the balance will be returned to you in full. On request, Smart Yachts or the yacht captain himself can arrange a transfer to and from the yacht for you. The cost of these services will be deducted from the deposit.

HOW MANY GUESTS ARE PERMITTED ONBOARD?
The number of guests on a yacht is determined by her size and the number of berths. The maximum number of guests for a yacht trip is 12 people.
Passenger ships can accommodate more guests. If you are planning to arrange a big party, our experts will help you to choose a yacht accommodating the required number of people. The number of guests onboard is governed the yacht’s safety regulations. Check all details with your charter manager.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHOOSE THE ITINERARY FOR A CRUISE?
Tell your charter expert which places you would like to visit. Yachts are usually located in certain ports, but most of them can sail in wider areas. The final itinerary of your voyage and the number of port calls along it will depend on the yacht's speed, weather conditions, and the availability of free berths in a particular marina.
The entrance to the ports of some countries may be closed for yachts with the flag of a certain state. Please make sure that you have got visas for all the countries that you intend to visit during your trip. You should also keep in mind that there are relocation fees in case you embark and/or disembark from a yacht at a port other than the yacht home port.

DO ALL YACHTS ACCEPT CHILDREN ON BOARD?
Most of the yachts are very child-friendly and some have special equipment for kids. However, some yachts may have a requirement on the minimum age for children onboard and/or request a nanny to be onboard during the charter.
The crew cannot provide childcare or babysitting services. Please inform your Smart Yachts broker about any child in your group from the very beginning of your charter planning.

EVERY LITTLE THING MATTERS
A few weeks before you arrive on the yacht, Smart Yachts will ask you to fill in a detailed questionnaire about your preferences or special requests.
This includes information about diets or any medical restrictions, details of allergies, preferred sports, and entertainment. This will help us and our team members to be sure that we have done our best for your charter to become a memorable experience.

SATELLITE TELEVISION
Yachts that are equipped with such a broadcasting system cannot always guarantee an uninterrupted signal during the voyage.
If the availability of satellite TV during your charter is crucial for you, please ask your broker in advance what the yacht of your choice offers.

THE INTERNET
Wireless internet is a standard on most yachts, but it can be unstable during the cruise.
If you need a constant Internet access or you are going to download large amounts of information during your cruise, please notify the broker. Increasing internet speed onboard may incur additional costs.

SMOKING ON BOARD
Smoking on yachts is allowed only on open decks. Some yachts have designated smoking areas.
Please check this with your Smart Yachts broker in advance. For safety reasons, smoking in cabins and saloons is prohibited on all yachts.

TIPS TO CREW MEMBERS
Tipping is optional, but it is common to thank the crew if you are satisfied with the services rendered. Usually, tips reach 10% of the total charter cost, but it can be increased or decreased as you wish.
The best way to ensure that all crew members receive the same tips is to give the full amount to the captain. In this case, those crew members who did an invisible but very important job (for example, an engineer or a chef assistant) will not be left without attention.

ENTERTAINMENT EQUIPMENT
Usually, the yacht has all the water toys listed in its description on board. However, the availability of everything cannot be guaranteed, as the “water toys” are frequently changed and updated.
If you need a particular item, the owner of the yacht usually does everything possible to get it on board. Personal watercraft (jet skis, etc.) may be prohibited in some regions and you may be required to provide an appropriate driving license. Please check this with your charter broker in advance.

INSURANCE
Smart Yachts strongly recommends taking out travel cancellation or shortening travel insurance. This can save your finances in unforeseen circumstances.
Also, all passengers of the yacht you rent must have medical insurance for the trip duration and preferably insure their property against theft, loss, or damage.
Other types of insurance are also worth to be considered. For example, liability insurance for yacht renters. Our brokers will be happy to advise you on the matter.

CHARTER PRICE
The charter price indicated is a weekly yacht charter. Charters longer than 7 days are calculated by dividing the weekly rate by 7 and multiplying by the number of days. Charters shorter than 7 days are calculated by dividing the weekly rate by 6 and multiplying by the number of days.
Some yachts have a minimum required charter duration. You can check this information with your broker.
High season rates are usually in effect during periods of high charter demand, that is, July / August and Christmas / New Years, as well as all major events such as the Monaco Grand Prix and the Cannes Film Festival. The rest of the time, low season rates apply (note that low and high seasons may vary by region).

VAT
Please note that by the European Union tax laws, the total charter price and relocation costs of the vessel may be subject to a value-added tax of up to 20% if the charter is in EU waters.
In other countries, local taxes may also apply. Our brokers will provide comprehensive information on taxation per your chosen cruise itinerary, and will help you to find a solution to reduce the tax rate, for example, entering international waters in some cases reduces the tax down to 6.6%.
