video review of the Sanlorenzo 50Steel
Sanlorenzo has reached a major technological milestone in its push toward carbon neutrality with the launch of the first 50Steel superyacht. Unveiled during the 2024 Élite Days, an exclusive event for yacht owners, the 50Steel is set to debut at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, and equipped with a revolutionary Green Methanol Reformer Fuel Cell system. This groundbreaking system allows the yacht to power her onboard hotel systems with zero emissions, marking a significant step in sustainable yachting.
Beyond sustainability, the 50Steel introduces the HER (Hidden Engine Room) system, which optimizes onboard space. By redesigning the engine room, the layout now allows for a new space — the Ocean Lounge. This lounge connects directly to the Beach Club, with its three open terraces creating a 150-square-meter "beach" when at anchor.
The Green Methanol Reformer Fuel Cell system, developed in collaboration with Siemens Energy, converts green methanol into hydrogen, which is then transformed into electrical energy. This powers the yacht’s systems without the need to store hydrogen onboard, allowing the yacht to generate up to 100kW of power with the diesel engines turned off. This carbon-neutral system can cover up to 90% of the yacht’s typical operating time at anchor, significantly reducing emissions.
The 50Steel is designed with unprecedented volumes and elegant spaces, staying true to Sanlorenzo’s distinctive style. Spanning five staggered decks, the yacht offers expansive, open areas that seamlessly flow into one another, reducing partitions and enhancing the sense of space. Despite its innovative internal architecture, the external profile maintains a sleek and minimalistic look, in line with Sanlorenzo’s signature clean lines, thanks to the design by Zuccon International Project.
A focal point of the yacht is the main deck, which houses a spacious and sophisticated salon. This area serves as the heart of the yacht, providing a luxurious space for relaxation and socializing.
The design is further accentuated by the staircase that runs through the yacht, designed to let light permeate through different levels, connecting key areas such as the gym and spa on the lower deck and the second salon on the upper deck. The dining room, positioned between these spaces, benefits from varying ceiling heights ranging from 2.1 to 3.35 meters, offering an enhanced sense of openness.
The design optimizes every corner of the yacht, providing accommodation for four guest cabins and an owner’s suite.
Additionally, the 50Steel features two pools, one located on the aft Beach Club and the other on the sundeck, delivering the ultimate luxury experience.
