80m Bilgin yacht Leona launched in Istanbul

Turkish shipyard Bilgin Yacht has launched the second hull of its 80-meter Bilgin 263 series. 

The new boat, Leona, was designed by Antalya-based Unique Yacht Design and sports a distinctive scarlet hull. The project is the ninth partnership between the shipyard and the British design company, with H2 Yacht Design providing the interiors.

Compared to her sistership Tatiana, Leona differs from her in a number of ways. Although the main layout is nearly same and the yachts can accommodate up to 10 people, Jonny Horsfield of H2 Yacht Design noted that Leona places a more emphasis on space with fewer cabins overall to provide larger accommodations.

On the main deck are two VIP suites with his and her dressing rooms and private bathrooms, while two guest cabins are located below. Access to a personal foredeck and pool is available from an owner's deck. Additional storage, a theater area, a gym, and a sauna are all on the lower deck.

With the purpose of separating the lounge and formal dining area, her main saloon has a dramatic tiger onyx island fireplace with fish tank.

The series emphasizes eco-friendliness, featuring a special exhaust system that claims to provide 100 per cent clean air emissions. She can travel at a top speed of 19 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots thanks to twin 2560kw MTU 16V 4000M73 engines.

By the end of 2022, sea trials are anticipated to start off the coast of Istanbul, and delivery is anticipated in 2024.
